Help! I need to mellow out my perimenopause

So... let's just say my PMS got a little "out of order" last month. There was a hormone surge or something. Anyway I felt it, and I'm sure my co-workers did too.

This doesn't always happen. Some months breeze by and the PMS is hardly noticeable. But I can tell that overall, I have to say it's getting worse.

I've tried evening primrose oil - not bad - makes me sleepy at night - that's a good thing.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this product: MellowPause. I found it online (Amazon) and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it. The name alone sounds good to me. I need to mellow out!

I'd love to hear from you if you have ideas for calming the craziness during PMS week.

Here is the blurb on MellowPause:

Product Description

Estrogen dominance is also a factor in some of the more troublesome symptoms of menopause as well as Pre-Menstrual Syndrom (PMS) and complaints like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Estrogen dominance is thought to occur when there is a drop in progesterone production during menopause. Black Cohosh is one of the more thoroughly researched herbs which contains phytoestrogens and is approved by the German 'Kommission E" - a body similar to the FDA. Because Black Cohosh has mild estrogen-like effects it will bind to estrogen receptors, without raising estrogen levels in the body - thereby lowering the estrogenic activity of the body. Phytoestrogens can compete with excess systemic estrogen and xeno-estrogens and therefore help to balance systemic estrogen production. In addition, research suggests that Black Cohosh also suppresses Luteinizing Hormone (LH), high levels of which are responsible for hot flashes, among other things. Black Cohosh is one of the principle ingredients in our MellowPause remedy, along with Pasque Flower which is a well known tonic for the female reproductive system.

  1. I have been trusting my naturopath and she has been a goddess.

I am using hormeel. I take it orally three times a day and get injections every month.

I am also having Pulsatilla injected. I get days where I feel like there is a grey cloud surrounding me and I can't make the simplest of decisions. I also get very weepy. The Pulsatilla has really helped with this.

    I hope this helps.

  2. Hey if this works, sign me up for a bottle! That sounds great. And I love your blog - so witty and yet, informative! I have a website, www.shareWIK.com, and would love to hear from you! ShareWIK (share What I Know) is a website devoted to bringing together women from all different situations and backgrounds (as well as a few men!) to talk about their experiences and learn from each other. We are taking about Hysterectomies this week on ShareWIK, namely the new and improved procedures; and I would love your intake on it. Hope to hear from you!

  3. A word about evening primrose. I used it for 2 years because my cycles had shortened to 21 days. My cycles did extend to about 24 days, so maybe the evening primrose did what I wanted. But I also started having cramps, when I'd hardly ever had cramps before. They got worse and worse, until I was even having them when I wasn't having my period. One day thank goodness I ran out of evening primrose and wasn't able to get to the store right away. Ta da! No more cramps. So I stopped taking evening primrose. Oddly enough, my cycle remained around 23 to 24 days.

  6. I just hit the peri-freakin pause wall over night.
And it started with progesterone cream, I started applying to see if my pms headaches would go away.
It did just the opposite, headaches every day and constant sweating/chills. I stopped the cream right away.
Bloating is the worse thing now, I eat so little and no sodas, very little caffeine or alcohol.
    Very little carbs.
No matter how little I eat, I am bloated.
    Any suggestions?
Thank you and so glad I found this site.

  7. @flea: try bioresonance to relieve your menopausal symptoms: it worked great for me.

I haven't tried the MellowPause, but I think it should help for it contains black cohosh. I used black cohosh in supplement and it really alleviated the PMS.
